Overview: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
As the automotive industry makes a shift towards electric vehicles (EVs), the competition in the market becomes fiercer, leaving early entrants at a disadvantage. The 2023 Jaguar I-Pace is currently in its fifth year of production, and some newer models offer greater range, faster charging times, or better performance. However, the I-Pace has a unique appeal that goes beyond just specifications. Its superior driving experience, distinctive exterior design, and luxurious interior make it stand out from the crowd. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with advanced technological features like a Meridian sound system, a 10-inch infotainment display, driver-assistance features, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the I-Pace may not be ranked highly among other 2023 models, it remains a highly desirable and enjoyable vehicle.
Price and Variants: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
For the 2023 model year, the Jaguar I-Pace has received a few updates that are worth noting. One significant change is the introduction of a performance seat option that comes in three different colors: Ebony, Light Oyster, or Mars Red. In addition, the I-Pace is now the first-ever Jaguar model to feature built-in Amazon Alexa voice control. Furthermore, wireless charging has been made standard for this electric crossover.
Despite being offered in only one trim level, the HSE, the I-Pace's price $72,575 is now closer to that of the discontinued base model. The HSE offers a variety of advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, as well as a premium audio system, a head-up display, leather upholstery, 16-way power front seats with heated and cooled cushions, a power-operated liftgate, and 20-inch wheels.
If you're considering buying an I-Pace, the HSE is the only option available, but with all its features, it is a strong choice in the luxury electric vehicle market.
Power and Performance: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
The I-Pace is equipped with two electric motors that provide standard all-wheel drive, generating a total of 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque. This impressive power delivery allows for swift acceleration, making it easy to navigate through city streets and overtake slower vehicles on the highway. Additionally, the car's standard air suspension ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, while the steering provides satisfying feedback. Thanks to the battery pack located under the floor, the I-Pace has a low center of gravity, which enhances its agility and stability. Although the vehicle is exciting to drive, its braking behavior when coming to a stop was a minor drawback observed during our testing.
Range, Charging and Battery: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
The 2023 I-Pace comes equipped with a robust 90.0-kWh battery pack, which allows drivers to travel up to 246 miles on a single full charge, according to the EPA rating. In comparison, the Audi e-tron has a projected range of up to 226 miles, while the Tesla Model X is anticipated to travel up to 348 miles. Additionally, the I-Pace has a standard DC fast-charging port, enabling 80% of the battery to be replenished in as little as 40 minutes.
If you don't have access to fast charging, it will take approximately 8.6 hours to fully replenish the battery using a 240-volt AC outlet. This is an improvement over previous versions, which required nearly 13 hours to charge using this method. The difference is due to Jaguar's decision to upgrade the I-Pace's onboard charger from a 7.0-kW unit to an 11.0-kilowatt unit in 2022.
Interior: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace impresses not only with its stunning exterior design but also with its sleek and modern interior. The dashboard is stylish and attention-grabbing, while the cabin provides ample space for passengers. Although the front seats are supportive, they may not be the most comfortable during long journeys. However, the I-Pace can be equipped with an array of luxurious features to enhance the driving experience, including performance seats, four-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, a head-up display, and various options for leather upholstery.
When it comes to storage, the I-Pace offers a versatile center console with a convenient bin under the armrest and a tray below the center stack. Additionally, its cubby storage provides plenty of room for personal items. In the cargo area, the I-Pace can accommodate up to seven carry-on suitcases and 18 when the rear seats are folded down, making it a practical choice for those who need extra space for luggage or equipment.
Infotainment and Connectivity: 2023 Jaguar I-Pace
The I-Pace model is equipped with an infotainment system that responds to touch, and it has two screens. The 10.0-inch upper display is used for audio functions and other similar tasks, while the 5.5-inch lower screen manages the car's climate control system. Although Jaguar claims that the user interface has been improved to be more user-friendly, we have not yet had the opportunity to evaluate it. The updated software includes a convenient feature that displays the location of charging stations, as well as information on availability, cost, and estimated charging time. The I-Pace also includes popular connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa voice control, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Moreover, a standard feature on this car model is an 825-watt Meridian sound system.
