However, the extra power comes at a cost – the GT's driving range estimate is just 206 miles per charge, a significant drop from the most efficient model's 310-mile range.
Another change for 2023 is the elimination of the entry-level Light trim, leaving the Wind model as the most affordable option in the EV6 lineup. The Wind now comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a base price of $50,025, while the all-wheel-drive version starts at $53,695. The GT-Line trim level starts at $54,225 and offers all-wheel drive for $58,695. The top-of-the-line GT AWD has a starting price of $62,925.
While the GT may be the most exciting option, the Wind is the most practical choice for most EV buyers. The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Wind trim level generates a combined 320 horsepower, making it a powerful option. Plus, going with the standard 19-inch wheels preserves driving range, allowing for up to 282 miles of driving per charge. Overall, the 2023 Kia EV6 lineup offers a range of options for drivers looking for a practical and efficient EV or those who crave thrilling performance.
Power and Performance: 2023 Kia EV6
The EV6 comes with two different drivetrain options: a rear-wheel drive with a single electric motor, or an all-wheel drive with electric motors on both the front and rear axles. The all-wheel-drive models have a larger battery pack and can produce a total of 320 or 576 horsepower, while the base rear-wheel-drive model has a smaller battery and only 167 horsepower. However, upgrading to the larger battery pack can increase the rear-wheel-drive EV6's total output to 225 horsepower.
During our test drive of the GT-Line AWD model in Europe, we found the acceleration and handling to be quite satisfying. The car also had adjustable regenerative brake settings, which provided a more customizable driving experience. The 320-hp GT-Line model managed to reach 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds in our track test, demonstrating impressive performance.
For those who prioritize maximum straight-line performance, the 576-hp GT model is the way to go. In our testing, it was able to reach 60 mph in a speedy 3.2 seconds. The performance model is at the top of the lineup and includes features such as an electronic limited-slip differential, firmer chassis tuning, an adaptive suspension, and stronger brakes, providing an even more exhilarating driving experience.
Range, Charging and Battery: 2023 Kia EV6
The Kia EV6 offers two battery options, a 58.0-kWh and a 77.4-kWh, with the latter providing a greater driving range. The smaller battery has an EPA-rated range of 232 miles, while the larger battery can go up to 310 miles. However, if you choose the high-performance GT model, the range drops to 206 miles despite having the larger battery.
We tested the all-wheel-drive Wind model with the larger battery on a 75-mph highway route and achieved a real-world driving range of 230 miles before needing to recharge. The GT model provided a lower range of 190 miles.
Kia claims that their battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in under 18 minutes when using a 350-kW fast-charger. We confirmed this claim during testing and found that it could add 70 miles in less than 5 minutes. The 11-kW onboard charger is expected to refill the battery from 10 to 100 percent in 7 hours when using a Level 2 outlet.
Interior: 2023 Kia EV6
When it comes to the interior, the EV6 is a step forward for Kia, featuring a more modern and futuristic design compared to their other models. While it may not be as daring as the exterior, it's still impressive. The floating center console provides ample storage, and there's a large bin underneath it. The dashboard is digitized and has a sleek look, while gold accents tastefully adorn the cabin. The two-tone, two-spoke steering wheel and prominent start button on the center console are also standout features.
Passenger space is generous due to the EV6's long wheelbase, which is as long as the three-row, mid-size Kia Telluride. The flat floor also adds to the spaciousness of the interior. In terms of cargo space, there's 28 cubic feet behind the back seat, and folding the rear seatbacks flat increases the cargo capacity to 54 cubic feet. While the front trunk provides additional storage space, it's not as big as one would expect.
Overall, the EV6's interior strikes a balance between high-tech elements and practicality, with a design that's sure to impress. The spaciousness of the cabin and ample cargo room make it a practical option for families or those who need to carry a lot of gear.

The Kia EV6's infotainment system features a 12.0-inch touchscreen that seamlessly integrates with the digital gauge cluster. However, the system's menu structure and navigation performance leave room for improvement.
