Additionally, the low starting price makes it an appealing option for those looking to make the switch to an electric vehicle. While it is sold exclusively in California and in limited quantities, the MX-30's sleek design and eco-friendly features make it a desirable choice for environmentally conscious drivers.

Power and Performance : 2023 Mazda MX-30

The 2023 MX-30 is a well-designed all-electric SUV that is powered by a 143-hp electric motor that drives the front wheels. While it does not offer all-wheel drive, the SUV's agile handling and responsive steering make it a pleasure to drive. The MX-30's playful chassis and sharp steering are a testament to Mazda's commitment to producing vehicles that offer both practicality and driving enjoyment. Although the MX-30's horsepower rating is relatively low, its handling is agile and responsive, as expected from a modern Mazda vehicle. The steering is precise, making it a playful and fun-to-drive SUV. In fact, the MX-30's nimble handling and sharp steering are reminiscent of Mazda's MX-5 Miata sports car, which is why it shares the "MX" prefix in its name. However, the MX-30's acceleration is not as impressive as some of its more powerful rivals. It took 8.7 seconds for the SUV to reach 60 mph at the test track. Despite this, the MX-30's handling and performance are still impressive and make it a joy to drive.

The MX-30's battery pack may be smaller compared to other electric vehicles, but it offers a unique advantage as it is capable of charging on both standard AC power and faster DC chargers. Despite its limited range of around 100 miles per charge, the MX-30 is still a practical and eco-friendly choice for drivers who primarily use their vehicle for daily commuting and short trips. Additionally, the MX-30's compact size and fast charging capabilities make it an ideal choice for urban environments where parking and charging may be limited.

Exterior and Interior : 2023 Mazda MX-30

The Mazda MX-30 EV is anticipated to blend futuristic styling concepts with the same refined design language for which the brand is known. It's probable that the electric crossover will share similarities with other crossovers in Mazda's lineup, such as the CX-3 and CX-30. Expect the exterior to boast sleek sheet metal and gentle curves running along the body. The front grille will also bear resemblance to those found on current Mazda models. Mazda's designers did an excellent job of creating a sense of openness and spaciousness in the relatively small MX-30 by combining various materials and light colors with contemporary design elements. The center console, which houses the gear shifter, is elevated on a pedestal above a cork-like material that has a pleasant texture. Every surface in the MX-30 is covered in a soft-touch fabric, giving it a pleasing feel. The panels are all well-built, and I would even go so far as to say that it has one of the most attractive interiors of any vehicle, electric or otherwise, priced under $50,000. Being enveloped in the MX-30's interior was the highlight of my driving experience. The MX-30's interior utilizes eco-friendly materials such as cork and breathable fabric upholstery crafted from recycled plastic bottles. While there is enough room in the front seats to accommodate two American adults, the back seat is considerably more cramped in terms of head- and legroom. The floating center console is currently in fashion and creates additional storage space behind a digitized screen that regulates the vehicle's climate-control system.

Infotainment and Connectivity : 2023 Mazda MX-30

Apart from the digital panel for regulating the MX-30's climate controls and vehicle settings, there is an additional 8.8-inch display that emerges from the dashboard to manage infotainment features, including the audio system, navigation, and backup camera. Mazda's newest infotainment interface is utilized in the MX-30, which premiered on the 3 sedan and hatchback and supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
