Overview:
Although wagons are not the most popular body style in the United States, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo prove that popularity is not everything. These longroof station-wagons are an alternative to the swanky electric Taycan sedan, providing a larger back seat and added cargo space compared to their more traditional counterparts. However, unlike the sedan, the wagons only come with dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains and have a max driving range of an estimated 235 miles according to the EPA.
The horsepower of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo ranges from 469 for the base model to 750 for the Cross Turismo Turbo S. The Sport Turismo GTS offers a horsepower of 590 and eliminates the Cross Turismo's body cladding and additional SUV-inspired ride height. The high-quality interior of both wagons offers a luxurious ride, and the additional ground clearance of the Cross Turismo may make it easier for some passengers to exit.
Despite the advantages of the wagons, they offer less range than the standard Taycan.
Price and Variants:
For 2023, Porsche has made several updates to its Taycan Cross and Sport Turismo models, including a battery and charging algorithm upgrade that improves range and charging speed. The Taycan now conditions its battery to a higher temperature, allowing it to reach a maximum 270 kWh charge while at a higher state of charge. The infotainment display has also been redesigned with a more colorful and quicker user interface, as well as wireless Android Auto. Additionally, the Variable Light Control feature is now an option for any Taycan with a panoramic glass roof, and the painted 19-inch Aero wheels have been discontinued.
The Cross Turismo lineup prices are slightly more expensive than the regular Taycan sedan, and we recommend the Cross Turismo 4S model, which comes with a 562-hp powertrain, all-wheel drive, and adjustable air suspension. The Taycan Cross Turismo will be available for purchase this summer and comes with a free three-year Electrify America charging plan. For an extra fee, Porsche Experience Center is also recommended for a unique driving experience.

Range, Charging and Battery:
In 2023, the Taycan wagon lineup will see an increase in range. The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo will have the most range, with an EPA-rated 235 miles, which is a 20-mile improvement from last year. The Taycan GTS and Turbo Cross Turismo models will both have an EPA-estimated 233 miles of range. However, the Turbo S Cross Turismo, which is the most powerful Taycan wagon, will have the least range, traveling an EPA-rated 222 miles.
According to our tests, the Porsche EVs were more efficient in the real world than their government ratings suggest. This was observed when we tested the Turbo S sedan on our 75-mph highway route, as well as the less powerful 4S version.
The Taycan wagon will share the sedan's 800-volt architecture, and we expect it to have a similar, slightly shorter, all-electric range. Moreover, the Taycan wagon will be able to charge its battery from 5 to 80 percent in just 22.5 minutes, which is quite impressive.
Interior:
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo boasts a luxurious and modern interior that still pays homage to the brand's sports-car heritage. The left-sided start button is just one example of this. The digital gauge cluster is another tech-forward feature that adds to the vehicle's high-end feel.
The wagon offers a variety of luxury amenities and a long list of customization options, allowing drivers to make the vehicle truly their own. The Cross Turismo is available in both a standard four-seat configuration and an optional five-seat setup that includes a small center seat in the back row.
Thanks to its taller roofline and standard panoramic sunroof, the Cross Turismo offers slightly more headroom in the front and significantly more in the rear seats compared to the sedan. The vehicle also provides ample storage, including the front trunk and interior cubby storage found in the sedan, plus additional rear cargo space exclusive to the wagon model.
Infotainment and Connectivity:
The Taycan's technology-rich interior also finds its way into the long-roof model. This includes a sleek digital instrument cluster, a 10.3-inch central touchscreen, and an 8.4-inch vertical touchscreen integrated into the center console. Porsche also provides an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen on the passenger side, along with other convenient features like wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in GPS navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety and Warranty:
The Taycan Cross Turismo offers various safety and driver-assistance features that come standard or as optional add-ons, similar to the regular Taycan. These include blind-spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist, among others. The vehicle has undergone crash tests, and interested individuals can find more information on the NHTSA and IIHS websites.
Additional safety features that the Taycan Cross Turismo offers are adaptive cruise control, remote-controlled parking, and night vision. Porsche's warranty and maintenance coverage for the Taycan's electrical components are competitive with other luxury automakers in the market. The high-voltage battery warranty, in particular, ranks as one of the best.
The vehicle comes with a limited warranty that covers four years or 50,000 miles and a powertrain warranty that covers eight years or 100,000 miles. However, there is no complimentary scheduled maintenance offered.
