Hyundai Motor India has launched the much-awaited Hyundai Ioniq 5 at the Auto Expo 2023 and the South Korean automaker has already received more than 650 bookings for its flagship model in India. 

However, this is only an introductory price and will likely increase in the future. It comes with a range of options including two powertrains, three trim levels, and four exterior colors. Hyundai also offers an 8-year/1,60,000 km warranty on the battery pack which provides peace of mind for buyers. With such attractive features and competitive pricing, it’s no wonder that 650 units have been booked already!


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Price

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is set to commence next month, with the first 500 customers getting EV for a special introductory price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). At present, bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are open, and interested customers can book the EV online or at a Hyundai dealership for Rs 1 lakh.


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Range & Charging Time

The ARAI-certified range of the Ioniq 5 is 631 kms. on a single charge with its 72.6 kWh battery. An electric motor positioned on the rear axle that produces 217 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque is powered by the battery. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes using the Ioniq 5’s ultrafast 800V charging capability. When connected to a home wallbox or a public AC charging station,  the IONIQ 5 takes 7 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 is available in 3 different colours – Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl and Optic White.  Sharp lines, smooth surfaces, an elevated stance, and dramatically sloped windscreens are all part of the Ioniq 5’s retro-futuristic design language. 


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Battery, Powertrain & Top Speed

The innovative Hyundai Electric-Global Modular Platform is used to build the IONIQ 5 E-G (Electric Global Modular Platform). This specialized battery electric car chassis allows for quicker charging, longer driving ranges, more interior room, and improved handling. A 72.6kWh battery sends power to a rear axle-mounted electric motor that makes 217hp and 350Nm of torque. It can go 0-100 kmph under 7.6 sec. with a top speed of  185 kmph. 


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Interior and Exterior

The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show’s 45 EV concept was a key design inspiration for the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 sports 20-inch wheels with a turbine-like design and headlights and taillights with an unique pixelated design. Along with winning World Car of the Year, World Electric Car, and World Design of the Year awards in 2022, the Ioniq 5 also won the award.


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV India’s First EV with an Eco-Friendly Interior

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is an India’s First EV with an Eco-Friendly Interior! This includes materials like Bio Paint for surfaces like a crash pad, switches, steering wheel, and door panels, Eco-processed Leather, headlining fabric made of bio components extracted from sugarcane and corn, carpet fabric made of an eco-friendly material made up of 32 plastic bottles for seatback and door armrests, and 100% recyclable paperette from HDPE, among other things. Extraordinary features include a larger flat floor, highly adjustable front seats that can recline all the way, and a mobile centre console that can be relocated anywhere in the vehicle. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes with larger interiors with improved handling and high-end materials.


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV- Loaded with Features

Ioniq 5 EV’s 31.19 cm(12.3″) Touch Screen Infotainment with Navigation creates the feel of a virtual cockpit. Six airbags, an electric parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels, a multi-collision avoidance brake system, and a power child lock are all included in the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s list of standard safety equipment. The Ioniq 5 further comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS capabilities, which include, to mention a few, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Assist, Smart Cruise Control, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Apart from that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with Vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology. As a result, the Ioniq 5 functions as a power bank, and the BEV may be used to recharge other electrical devices with a 3.6 kW capacity.


Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV’s Price Competition

With an initial price of Rs. 44.95 lakh, the Ioniq 5 will compete with the Kia EV6 and the Volvo XC40. It will have to contend with these two rivals in this price range.
