Riding a motorcycle gives you a sense of freedom that few other modes of transportation can match. While you can ride your bike practically everywhere, things are certain to turn slippery when you’re up on a mountain or riding through heavy snowfall. However, A French firm has invented a revolutionary all-electric snow bike that could change that.

The MoonBike is one of these big-kid toys. It’s an electric bike specifically designed for riding through the snow. The Moonbike is a simple way to travel around in snowy terrain, with a rear track drive and a front skiboard instead of wheels for easy mobility on snow.

The MoonBike is all-electric, silent, and ultra-lightweight. it is simple to ride due to its lightweight, tiny size, and low center of gravity.

MoonBikes weigh 163 lbs (75 kg) overall, with a battery pack adding another 28.5 lbs (13 kg). A total payload of 264 pounds (120 kg) is allowed, including the rider.

MoonBike is fitted with a powerful electric motor capable of producing 170 Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque via direct drive; no belts or chains are used. The engine can now handle up to 40-degree inclines and reach a top speed of 26 mph while running at 3 kW (4.02 hp) nominal power (42 kph).

It’s an electric-powered one-ski snowmobile that’s one-third the weight of a typical snowmobile and is ridden similarly to an e-bike, but through snow, obviously.

Its battery technology is designed to withstand the most extreme conditions. The battery pack beneath the seat has a capacity of 2.5 kWh and can be charged in about one hour. 3.2 kWh can be achieved with a range extender.

Because batteries are sensitive to cold temperatures, the pack is housed in a box that allows you to ride your MoonBike in temperatures as low as -13 degrees Fahrenheit (-25 degrees Celsius).

1.5 hours of riding time is possible with just one battery and running in eco mode. Sport mode, on the other hand, only lasts an hour. That may sound like a negative, but because the battery is replaceable, you can quickly purchase a backup pack and be ready to go once your first one runs out. Then, when it’s time to recharge, it’ll take 4.5 hours with a conventional charger or 2.5 hours with an optional fast charger.

It’s the result of more than six years of creativity, design, and hard work when Nicolas Muron was inspired to invent a new way to traverse the Alps and this is their very first complete product.
